When we say every goal counts
March 14, 2008

The Canadian ladies need either a win against Argentina or to see Chili beat Mexico by less than 3 goals. However, Chili did their job this afternoon with a decisive win against Mexico 29-23. So the junior team were in a must win situation against the hosting team Argentina. Unfortunately, Argentina was too strong for Canada and they won easily 26-16. Therefore, Chili, Canada and Mexico were tied with 1 win and 2 losses each. The group standing was then made by the difference between goals scored and goals against for all the between the three teams. Chili with a differential of +4 finished in second place, le Canada with +1 finished third and Mexico with -5 finished forth in the group. Therefore, no semis and World Championship for the ladies, instead they will play for the 5th place and also to stay in the Elite group. Teams finishing in 7th and 8th place will have to play a qualifying tournament in order to participate to the Pan Am. Tomorrow, the ladies need to win against Puerto Rico to stay in the Elite group. Stay with us.
